Samsung is expected to unveil the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 at its Galaxy Unpacked event tomorrow, but we’ve already got a good look at the wearable.
New marketing materials shared by well-known leaker Evan Blass suggest Samsung’s next flagship smartwatch could arrive with a slimmer design, a brighter display and a much larger battery than the current Galaxy Watch Ultra.
According to the leaked materials, the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 will be 12% thinner than its predecessor. This could potentially make Samsung’s premium smartwatch noticeably more comfortable to wear, despite retaining its rugged design. The images also point to an upgraded IP69K rating for dust and water resistance, improving on the IP68 certification offered by the 2025 Galaxy Watch Ultra.
Display brightness also appears to be getting a sizeable boost. The leak claims the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 will reach up to 5,000 nits, compared with 3,000 nits on the outgoing model. If accurate, that would make the screen considerably easier to read in bright sunlight – an important upgrade for runners, cyclists and hikers who regularly use their watch outdoors.
Battery life could also receive a welcome boost. The leaked specifications point to an 800mAh battery, up from 590mAhon the current Galaxy Watch Ultra. Samsung hasn’t shared any battery life estimates yet, but the larger capacity could translate into longer endurance between charges, particularly when using GPS tracking or other power-hungry fitness features.
There’s also an apparent boost in performance. Blass claims the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 will be powered by Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon Wear Elite platform. Separate reports indicate the standard Galaxy Watch 9 could also adopt the new processor, bringing faster performance and improved efficiency to both models.
As always, it’s worth treating pre-launch leaks with a degree of caution. Samsung has yet to confirm any of these specifications, including pricing or regional availability.
Fortunately, there’s not long to wait. Galaxy Unpacked is just around the corner, and Samsung is likely to officially reveal the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Galaxy Z Flip 8 and its Galaxy Watch 9.
