DJI’s long-awaited response to Insta360’s Luna Ultra is finally here in the form of the dual-camera Osmo Pocket 4P, and it’s available to buy right now in the UK.
The biggest change compared to the regular Pocket 4 is the addition of a second camera. Alongside a refreshed 20mm equivalent wide-angle lens with a 1-inch CMOS sensor and f/2.0 aperture, DJI has introduced a 60mm telephoto lens with an f/1.8 aperture. The setup offers 3x optical zoom and up to 12x digital zoom, making the Pocket 4P equally suited to sweeping landscapes and portrait shots with naturally blurred backgrounds.
DJI says the new sensor delivers 17 stops of dynamic range, while support for its new 10-bit D-Log 2 colour profile captures more than one billion colours for greater flexibility during colour grading. The camera can also record 4K video at up to 240fps, enabling up to 8x slow-motion footage for sports and fast-moving action.
Despite the upgraded hardware, the Pocket 4P weighs just 230g and continues to rely on DJI’s signature three-axis mechanical gimbal for stabilisation. The company has also upgraded its subject tracking with ActiveTrack 8.0. This can keep people, pets, vehicles and other moving subjects centred in the frame, even when shooting at higher zoom levels.
Several usability improvements have also been added. Users can start recording simply by rotating the touchscreen and triggering tracking or recording with hand gestures. Additionally, they can capture 37MP still images or 4K Live Photos that automatically include 1.5-second motion clips. DJI has also increased wired transfer speeds to 800MB/s over USB 3.1.
When it comes to power, fast charging takes the battery from 0% to 80% in 18 minutes. A full charge provides up to 210 minutes of shooting.
The Pocket 4P is compatible with DJI’s growing Osmo accessory ecosystem, including ND filters, a Black Mist filter, a battery handle, a fill light, a wide-angle lens, a mini tripod, and the company’s OsmoAudio microphones.
The camera is available in Black and Pearl White from today through DJI’s online store and authorised retailers, with the Osmo Pocket 4P Standard Combo priced at £529. The Vlog Combo with additional accessories costs £605.
