Sony has expanded its flagship noise-cancelling headphone range with a new finish for the WH-1000XM6, introducing an Olive Gray colourway aimed at buyers looking for a more understated design.
The new option joins the existing Sand Pink and Sandstone finishes. Sony describes Olive Gray as part of its collection of nature-inspired colours designed to offer a more timeless look. In addition, the company says the muted earth tone is intended to complement a wide range of styles while avoiding trend-led colour choices.
Importantly, the new release is purely cosmetic. The WH-1000XM6 retains the same hardware and feature set that helped establish it as one of the leading premium wireless headphones.
It’s another launch that reflects a growing trend among audio brands to refresh products with new colourways, giving buyers more choice without changing the underlying technology. Quite frankly, we’re all for more colours with headphones, presenting the opportunity for people to personalise their audio hardware with colours that appeal to them and reflect their personality. And we’re very bored by the default of black headphones.
Sony says the Olive Gray finish was developed around the idea that premium products should remain visually appealing for years. It pairs a neutral colour palette with the existing design of the WH-1000XM6.
For anyone who has been considering Sony’s latest flagship headphones but hasn’t yet been sold on the current finishes, the new colour provides another option without sacrificing any of the features.
Buyers will still get the same premium noise cancellation, sound quality and comfort. Now, these come wrapped in what Sony calls a more sophisticated, nature-inspired design.
The Sony WH-1000XM6 in Olive Gray is available now through Sony’s online store and selected retailers. Pricing remains unchanged from the existing colour options.
