Adobe is dramatically expanding its partnership with OpenAI by launching a new ChatGPT plugin that gives users access to more than 70 creative and productivity tools directly from within the chatbot.
The new plugin brings together much of Adobe’s software portfolio in a single integration. Once installed, users can tap into apps including Photoshop, Premiere, Acrobat, Lightroom, Illustrator and InDesign without leaving ChatGPT. This makes it easier to create, edit and manage content through conversational prompts.
The rollout builds on Adobe’s earlier ChatGPT integrations. At the end of last year, the company used OpenAI’s Apps SDK to bring Photoshop, Acrobat and Adobe Express into the chatbot. The latest release significantly broadens that offering. It does so by covering almost Adobe’s entire creative ecosystem.
Installing the plugin is straightforward. Users simply head to ChatGPT’s Settings menu, open the Plugins section and enable the Adobe plugin. From there, typing @Adobe in the prompt bar activates the integration. This allows ChatGPT to hand off supported requests to Adobe’s software.
Adobe says the plugin works especially well with OpenAI’s Codex coding app and the recently launched Work suite. However, users can also access it through standard ChatGPT conversations.
The integration works without requiring a Creative Cloud subscription. But signing into an Adobe account unlocks additional features. Users can save projects across sessions, access files already stored in Creative Cloud, and use Adobe Firefly for AI-powered image generation and editing.
Adobe envisions the plugin being used for tasks ranging from editing photos and producing marketing videos to generating PDFs and handling creative workflows without constantly switching between applications. However, the company is positioning the integration as a productivity layer rather than a replacement for its desktop software.
“We want Adobe’s pro-grade tools for creativity and productivity to be available wherever people work,” said Forest Key, Adobe’s Vice President of Adobe Firefly and Agentic AI. He added that while ChatGPT offers a faster way to access Adobe’s tools, the company’s flagship applications remain the best option for projects requiring deeper creative control and precision.
The launch highlights Adobe’s continued embrace of generative AI. At the same time, it gives ChatGPT users another way to bring professional creative tools directly into their everyday workflows.
