Sony has officially revealed when its next State of Play will air, and it’s pretty soon.
Sony’s next PlayStation State of Play will air on 2 June, with the showcase running for more than 60 minutes and covering upcoming PS5 titles from both PlayStation Studios and third-party partners.
The event lands during the opening week of the Summer Game Fest season, and the timing is deliberate, with Sony moving to establish its presence in the gaming calendar before Geoff Keighley’s Summer Game Fest showcase follows shortly after.
Marvel’s Wolverine from Insomniac Games is the confirmed headline attraction, with Sony indicating the event will include a fresh look at the title’s combat system, described in official materials as brutal and relentless.
Wolverine has been in development at Insomniac Games for several years, with the studio best known for its work on Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, and the State of Play appearance will mark one of the most substantial public showings the project has received since its initial announcement trailer.

The advance notice Sony gave for this showcase is itself notable, as the company typically announces State of Play events with only days to spare, making a reveal nearly two weeks ahead of broadcast an unusual move that has amplified anticipation considerably.
Beyond the confirmed Wolverine segment, no further titles have been officially announced for the lineup, though the hour-long runtime leaves substantial room for additional reveals from across Sony’s first-party and third-party slate.
Sony has also confirmed live screening events at Alamo Drafthouse cinemas across the United States. This could suggest the company expects State of Play to draw audiences outside of a standard streaming broadcast.
The showcase also arrives at a moment when Sony is navigating a shifting competitive landscape. For instance, as Xbox is continuing to push Game Pass and multi-platform releases as its primary strategy, a strong exclusive-focused event is a timely opportunity for PlayStation to reinforce its console-first identity heading into the second half of 2026.
The State of Play will stream on 2 June, with Sony yet to confirm the broadcast time or the full list of titles set to appear during the presentation.
