TCL is rolling out a sizeable Google TV update that does more than just squash a few bugs.
The new firmware adds upgraded Dolby features and expands FlexConnect audio support, and also finally fixes a frustrating Disney+ audio issue that’s been bothering some home cinema fans.
The update, labelled v643, is heading to TCL’s 2023, 2024, and 2025 Google TV models running the Pentonic 700 chip, including higher-end sets like the QM6K, QM7K, and QM8K. TCL says its 2026 TVs already ship with these features built in.
The biggest change is the addition of Dolby Vision Filmmaker Mode, which replaces the older Dolby Vision Dark setting. In practice, this should deliver a more accurate picture for films watched in dimly lit rooms without the overly processed look some TV presets still lean into.

TCL is also expanding support for Dolby Atmos FlexConnect, its wireless audio platform. This platform lets compatible speakers connect directly to the TV without needing a soundbar or AV receiver. Previously, the system supported up to four wireless speakers, but the new update now adds support for the TCL Z100-SW wireless subwoofer too.
That might sound niche, but it pushes FlexConnect closer to becoming a genuine alternative to traditional surround sound systems. This is especially true for people who want immersive audio without running cables around the living room.
There’s also a very specific but important fix for Disney+. TCL has resolved an issue affecting IMAX Enhanced DTS:X audio playback on compatible films. Users can now properly switch between Dolby Atmos and DTS:X tracks on supported titles like Tron: Ares and various Marvel releases.
Importantly, this isn’t the first time TCL has added meaningful features long after launch. Previous firmware updates already brought Android 14 support and HDMI 2.1 QMS improvements to existing TVs. This is something not every TV brand is particularly good at.
The v643 update is already rolling out to some users now, with a wider release expected soon. If you own a recent TCL Google TV, it might finally be worth checking that software update menu. You shouldn’t ignore it for once.
