Natural Cycles expands to sleep tracking

Natural Cycles has extended its MHRA-registered digital contraception app into sleep health with the launch of Sleep Insights, a feature that connects cycle phase data with nightly sleep metrics to address a gap most mainstream tracking platforms still leave unattended.

Most sleep tracking platforms still treat the menstrual cycle as an afterthought, delivering nightly metrics without any account for how hormonal changes across different phases can influence the quality and character of a woman’s rest.

The feature builds on a growing body of research suggesting that hormonal fluctuations across the menstrual cycle produce measurable shifts in sleep quality, sleep architecture, and perceived restfulness, particularly around menstruation, that standard sleep platforms do not contextualise.

Sleep Insights draws on data from compatible wearables alongside self-reported morning check-ins, through which users log how they slept and flag disturbances, to generate personalised messages tied to their current cycle phase.

That combination of wearable data and self-reported experience feeds a daily insights view that surfaces key sleep metrics alongside fertility status, with the pairing intended to help users understand nightly patterns relative to where they are in their cycle.

Over time, the feature surfaces cycle-aware sleep trends, allowing users to identify whether restlessness or stronger sleep quality clusters around particular phases, a level of longitudinal personalisation that generic sleep trackers do not offer.

“For too long, women have been expected to use health technologies that weren’t built around the realities of female biology,” said Dr. Elina Berglund Scherwitzl, co-founder and co-CEO of Natural Cycles, noting that Sleep Insights reflects the company’s broader push to give women tools that connect hormones, cycle, and daily experience in one place.

Sleep Insights launches with support for the NC° Band and Oura Ring, with compatibility for Apple Watch and Garmin devices planned following the initial rollout, expanding the feature’s reach across Natural Cycles’ existing wearable ecosystem.

The NC° Band, introduced earlier in 2026 as the first wearable built specifically for Natural Cycles, collects both temperature and heart rate data, and Sleep Insights broadens its role beyond fertility tracking into wider cycle-aware health monitoring.

Natural Cycles, which published its 30th peer-reviewed scientific study as part of its ongoing research programme, has indicated it plans to further investigate the relationship between sleep, physiology, and female reproductive hormones.
