Zvox’s flagship soundbar aims to make TV dialogue clearer

If you’re constantly reaching for the remote because TV dialogue sounds muffled, Zvox believs it has the answer to your TV woes.

The company has launched the AV855 in the UK. This is a Zvox’s flagship soundbar designed to make speech easier to hear without the complexity of a full surround sound setup.

The AV855 is the latest addition to Zvox’s AccuVoice range. It packs the company’s dialogue-enhancement technology into a slim, low-profile design. The standout feature is its 20 levels of dialogue clarification, including 10 levels of SuperVoice, which works by softening background sounds and music so voices remain clear and easy to understand.

That focus on speech is what sets the AV855 apart from many rival soundbars. Rather than simply boosting volume, Zvox says its proprietary algorithms actively lift dialogue above other sounds. This helps viewers follow conversations without constantly adjusting the volume or turning on subtitles.

The soundbar also includes Output Leveling, a feature designed to tackle another common annoyance: sudden jumps in volume. It automatically reduces loud spikes from commercials and action scenes. At the same time, it makes quieter sounds easier to hear, creating a more balanced listening experience overall.

Of course, the AV855 isn’t just about dialogue. Inside the cabinet are four built-in drivers, including dual woofers for deeper bass and two front-facing speakers. Zvox’s PhaseCue virtual surround technology aims to create a wider, more immersive soundstage without the need for additional rear speakers.

The AV855 supports HDMI ARC, through which the user can also control power, volume and mute functions using their existing TV remote. In addition, optical and 3.5mm connections are included for older equipment.

Standing just 4.7cm tall, the brushed aluminium soundbar can sit neatly beneath most TVs. It measures 85.6cm wide, weighs 2.27kg, and includes a small hidden display to show volume and input information.

The Zvox AV855 is available now in the UK through Amazon for £299. For anyone who finds themselves rewinding scenes because they missed a line of dialogue, this could be one of the more practical soundbar upgrades of the year.
