Samsung appears to be preparing the One UI 9 beta for the Galaxy S25 series.
A test build for the Galaxy S25 Ultra was recently spotted on the company’s servers. While the software hasn’t been officially announced for older flagship devices yet, the discovery suggests the beta rollout may not be far away.
The leaked firmware was found for the Korean variant of the Galaxy S25 Ultra, carrying build numbers S938NKSUBZZG8 / S938NOKRBZZG8 / S938NKSUBDZG8. Although Samsung hasn’t confirmed what these builds contain, they’re widely believed to be the first signs that One UI 9 testing is moving closer to a public beta.
If Samsung follows its usual rollout strategy, South Korea is likely to be the first market to receive the beta. After this, availability would gradually expand to other regions.
The timing would make sense. Samsung has already started testing Android 17-based One UI 9 across several Galaxy devices internally. However, public access has so far been limited to the Galaxy S26 series.
At the moment, Samsung’s newest foldables — the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra and Galaxy Z Flip 8 — remain the only smartphones running the stable version of One UI 9. The company has yet to confirm when the Galaxy S26 lineup will receive its stable software update. Therefore, beta testing is the next likely step for older flagship models.
For Galaxy S25 owners, the appearance of a beta build is an encouraging sign that Samsung is preparing to broaden access to its latest software. While there’s no official changelog yet, One UI beta releases typically give users an early opportunity to try new Android features and the latest interface refinements ahead of the public rollout.
As always with pre-release software, early beta versions can contain bugs or unfinished features. This makes them better suited to enthusiasts than anyone relying on their phone for day-to-day work.
Samsung hasn’t announced a launch date for the Galaxy S25 beta programme, and there’s no confirmation yet on which regions will be included beyond the Korean test build. However, if previous One UI releases are anything to go by, wider markets are likely to follow once the initial rollout gets underway.
