Android users looking for a polished alternative to the popular iPhone flight tracker Flighty finally have a new option.
After a period of closed alpha testing, Aviate has officially launched on the Google Play Store. The app brings a modern Material 3-inspired design and a flexible pricing model that could appeal to both frequent and occasional travellers.
Unlike many existing Android flight-tracking apps that largely mirror the iOS experience, Aviate has been designed specifically with Google’s platform in mind. The app embraces Material 3 Expressive. It features colourful visuals, clean layouts and interface elements that feel right at home on Android rather than simply recreating Apple’s design language.
The launch follows a short pre-registration period and limited alpha. Accordingly, the developers are now making the app widely available to download.
One of Aviate’s biggest selling points is its pricing. Basic flight tracking is available for free. Meanwhile, users who want richer tracking data and more advanced features can subscribe only when they need them. Rather than locking users into an expensive annual plan, Aviate offers short-term subscriptions starting at $1.99 for one week. There are also two-week ($2.49), three-week ($2.99), yearly ($39.99) and lifetime ($199.99) options.
That approach could make the app especially attractive for people who only travel a handful of times each year. Early adopters can also save 20% on the Lifetime Pro tier until August 31, 2026. The discount is available directly within the app.
Early impressions have been encouraging. During its alpha phase, Aviate was praised for its clean interface and thoughtful Android-first approach. This suggests it could become one of the platform’s strongest travel companions if development continues at the same pace.
That said, the developers urge users to treat the app with some caution for important journeys. As with any newly launched travel service, it’s recommended to keep a backup method for accessing boarding passes and flight information until you’ve confirmed the app works reliably for your travel needs.
For Android users who’ve long wanted a native-feeling equivalent to Flighty, Aviate looks set to fill that gap with a more flexible subscription model than many of its rivals.
