Samsung is bringing One UI 9 to older Galaxy foldables

Samsung is starting to bring Android 17-based One UI 9 to some of its older flagship phones, including the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6.

The stable update has begun rolling out in Samsung’s home market of South Korea alongside support for the Galaxy S24 series, following earlier releases for the Galaxy S26 and Galaxy S25 families and newer foldables. The rollout is expected to expand to the US, Europe and other markets, though timing is yet to be confirmed.

For Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6 owners, the update is arriving as build EZIH. Those already running the One UI 9 beta are looking at a roughly 408MB download, while users upgrading directly from the previous software version will reportedly need around 3.5GB.

The Galaxy S24 series is getting a similar split. Beta testers are receiving a roughly 500MB update, while anyone moving straight to stable One UI 9 faces a much larger 3.8GB download. The S24 update also includes the September 5, 2026 security patch.

As for what’s actually changing, One UI 9 brings many of the same additions already arriving on Samsung’s newer Galaxy phones. That includes expanded Galaxy AI features, more ways to customise the Quick Panel, privacy and security improvements, Samsung Health upgrades and various refinements across Samsung’s apps and interface.

That makes the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6 the latest older Samsung foldables to get a taste of Android 17. If you’re using one of the two and haven’t seen the update yet, give it time; the updates usually roll out internationally soon after its home region rollout.
