We now know almost everything about Google’s not-so-mysterious Fitbit Edge

Google’s Fitbit Edge is looking less mysterious by the day. A new leak has revealed the tracker’s likely price, display, battery life and fitness features, putting it somewhere between the Pixel Watch 5 and the screen-less Fitbit Air.

According to Dealabs, the Fitbit Edge will cost €179 in Europe and £159 in the UK, which points to a US price of around $180. That would make it considerably more expensive than the Fitbit Air, which costs €99/£85, but the Edge also packs a proper screen and considerably more hardware.

The leaked specifications point to a 1.34-inch AMOLED display, with battery life reaching up to seven days with always-on display switched off. Turn always-on display on and that drops to two days. There’s also a handy fast-charge claim: five minutes of charging should provide up to 24 hours of battery life.

Despite its small size, the Edge is apparently packed with fitness tracking features. The leak lists SpO2, steps, heart rate, blood pressure and insulin trends, ECG and VO2 Max, alongside other unspecified tracking capabilities. The tracker weighs just 17.7g and carries an IP68/5ATM water-resistance rating.

There are a few other interesting details here, too. The Fitbit Edge is reportedly compatible with Android 11 and newer and iOS 16.4 and newer, giving it an advantage over the Pixel Watch range, which doesn’t work with iPhone. It also has Bluetooth 5.4, support for Gemini and some form of Google Play integration.

Perhaps the more unusual addition is a user-replaceable battery, although the leak doesn’t explain how that will work in practice.

Google hasn’t confirmed the Fitbit Edge yet, so these specifications should still be treated as leaked information rather than final specs. There’s also no confirmed release date, although the latest leak suggests we may not have to wait much longer.

If the details hold up, the Edge could be an interesting middle ground: smaller and lighter than a smartwatch, but considerably more capable than Fitbit’s screen-less Air.
