The Vivo V80 promises flagship-style portraits and seriously long battery life

Vivo has unveiled the V80, bringing a 50MP ZEISS telephoto camera, a massive 7,200mAh battery and a redesigned glass body to its latest V-series smartphone. With improved portrait photography and 90W fast charging, the new handset looks to offer some flagship-level features without stepping into the company’s premium X-series lineup.

The biggest highlight is its camera setup, led by a 50MP ZEISS Super Telephoto Camera with a Sony IMX882 sensor, optical image stabilisation and 3x optical zoom. It also supports up to 10x digital zoom, alongside a dedicated 100mm portrait mode with ZEISS Planar-style bokeh for tighter, more natural-looking portraits.

There’s also an 85mm portrait option for wider shots, while a separate CCD-inspired flash mode is designed to give night portraits a more distinctive look. The V80 pairs this with a 50MP main camera featuring Sony’s LYTIA 700V sensor and a 50MP autofocus selfie camera, with both front and rear cameras supporting 4K video at 60fps.

Moreover, Vivo has fitted the V80 with a 7,200mAh BlueVolt battery, using fourth-generation silicon-anode technology to squeeze more capacity into a relatively slim design. The phone also supports 90W FlashCharge, which Vivo claims can bring the battery to 50% in 30 minutes, alongside bypass charging to help manage heat during longer gaming sessions.

Power comes from a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7-series processor, paired with 8GB of RAM and up to 16GB of extended memory, while the 1.5K display offers a 144Hz refresh rate and up to 5,000 nits of local peak brightness.

Design-wise, Vivo has introduced a one-piece cold-carved glass back that blends the camera housing into the body, alongside a metal frame and IP68 and IP69 water and dust resistance. The phone comes in four finishes, including Starwish Purple, which uses a holographic pattern designed to shift with the light.

It also runs OriginOS 7, bringing AI photo editing, meeting transcription and cross-device features including Apple Watch synchronisation. Vivo promises six years of annual security updates and what it calls a 72-month smooth experience.

The Vivo V80 will gradually launch across India, Southeast Asia and the Middle East, although pricing and exact availability have yet to be confirmed.
